Only Six for the DEL Oaks

Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of six after the two scratches for this years running of the grade three Delaware Oaks here at Delaware Park. It is not very often that we get to see races here at Delaware Park so it is a nice little change up to the usual big races. Let’s look at the field.

1. Dream Whisperer (11-4-1-2 $471.060), trained by Mb Stables

The first filly that we meet right here is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in the grade one Acorn in her last start. She didn’t run terrible that day and it looked like she was goi going to win for a moment. I think the drop in class helps her out.

2. Eye Test (8-3-2-1 $287.480), trained by Estero Farms

The next filly here is coming into this race off of a win in the grade two Summertime Oaks. She ran a very good race that day and finally got her first graded stakes win. If she puts an effort like that into this race she could definitely have a chance to win.

3. More Sport (9-2-1-2 $213.900), trained by Aml Racing

Another that is coming out of the grade one Acorn right here but she did not good at all that day and ended up finishing eleventh. That was not a good performance by her and she seems to be going out of form. I think she will have to make a big turnaround to have a chance.

4. Cardi B (11-3-2-3 $490.600), trained by Gdp Inc

Also coming out of the grade one Acorn is this filly right here and she set the early fractions that day and ended up fading to ninth. She did not run that bad considering she was on the lead for most of the way. I think if she sits off of it she will be in a lot better spot.

5. Outside Shot (6-3-1-0 $146.980), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Now to this filly who will be making her first start for her new trainer. She won her last race from dead last but that was on the turf. She has not ran on the dirt in a while so not sure how she will handle it. If there is a pace meltdown she will have a chance to pick up some pieces.

6. Pennies (7-1-5-0 $68.100), trained by Arindel

And the final filly in the field here and she is coming into this race off of three second place finishes in a row. She has ran second in two first level allowances in her last two. It is a step up in class and I just don’t know if she is ready for the jump up or not.

7. Freaky Dancer (8-2-2-0 $98.600), trained by Mb Stables

Scratched

8. Spicy Poke (8-3-2-2 $190.600), trained by Estero Farms

Scratched

Summary

Although a small field it looks to be very competitive on paper in my opinion. Honestly four of the six look like they could win to me and the other two I would not necessarily count out. My top pick is Eye Test off of that win in the Summertime Oaks. Good luck to all.
