1st Out On A Limb, trained by Smokey Stover

A near last to first finish for this all of a sudden mud lover. It was his first win on a wet track in his third try on the off track conditions. A perfect trip for him as he ends up winning the race beat last year’s winner with a nose victory over Seminole. He ran it in 1:24.44 on a muddy track and earned $300.000 for his win.

2nd Seminole, trained by On The Map Racing

Sitting a stalking position most of the way and then hitting the front he was run down in the absolutely final stride to get victory grabbed away from him. It was a very good performance though in the cut back in distance and first time on an off track. Ran a good race and is definitely a hard trying racehorse.

3rd De Fuego, trained by Defoe

After drawing into the race at the last moment he made very good showing for himself from the outside of outside post. After trying to set the pace the whole way the top two finishers were the only two that he would let by. Another knocking on the door finish after trying to take them gate to wire.

4th Spring Lover, trained by Mb Stables

After sitting a midpack trip the whole way he ended up finishing strong enough to get a piece of the purse. Not the greatest finish but he at least got fourth and got some earnings and he outran his two stablemates in the end. Not the finish his trainer was hoping for but not the worst he could have gotten.

Summary

A very big stretch run gave us an exciting finish at the wire of the race. De Fuego set the pace and held on gamely to run third but it was Seminole getting caught in the shadow of the wire by Out On A Limb flying late to grab victory by a nose for his trainer Smokey Stover on the muddy track at CD.
