Park Avenue Draws Six on Sunday

NY Stallion Series- Park Avenue
AQU- For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled In NY
Six and a Half Furlongs on the Dirt
April 18, 2021

There is quite a bit of disparity in the resumes of the field of six fillies that go to post in the Park Avenue, which is part of the NY Stallion Series. It is the 12th time that the race will be run, and the 10th time that it has been restricted to NY-breds. It has been run regularly every year since 2014, and was won last year by John Henry’s Zero Twist, a filly that is still running fairly well. WIll this race be captured by one of those fillies with a longer resume, or will one of the upstarts steal the show? Here’s the field!

#1- El Gran Condottieri (Estero Farms, ridden by J Alvarado)- A winner of one of her six career starts to this point, and tried the Grade 3 Honeybee at OP last month without any success. She was sixth in the race, but may be happy to get back to sprinting and facing lesser competition here.

#2- Southern Nites (Second Chance Farms, ridden by J L Ortiz)- This filly has done a good job finishing in the money for her career, doing so in all but one of her seven starts. Three of them ended up with her in the winners circle, all of which were in overnights. Attempted an ungraded stake at TAM a few weeks ago, and just missed, placing second.

#3- Indecisive (Mb Stables, ridden by J Lezcano)- We have seen this filly at the Big A quite often in her career, running against NY-breds in three of her four starts. She has won two of them, and did attempt the $100.000 May here, but the mile distance was too long for her. She should like cutting back here.

#4- Grazin At Sunrise (Smokey Stover, ridden by D Davis)- The Good Authority filly has plenty of experience at the graded level, but her biggest successes came as a two year old. So far this season, she has been knocking on the door of a win, but still has not come up with one. To improve that, she takes a step back from the GP Oaks, which is where she was seen last, running third, and tries NY-breds. If she’s on her game, I feel she is the one to beat.

#5- Hollywood Kate (Arindel, ridden by E Cancel)- Starting between the two fillies with graded experience is this maiden in four starts. Hollywood Kate has shown promise when she has raced, but a lot is being asked of her here. In addition, she last raced just nine days prior to this. Arindel knows how to get results with that, though.

#6- Just My Imagination (Second Chance Farms, ridden by M Franco)- The trainer has two good entries in this field, with Just My Imagination being a winner four times in her nine career starts. That’s highlighted by winning the $150.000 Maid Of The Mist last year, but she also comes off a win in the $100.000 East View, a race with very similar conditions.

Prediction: 4-3-6-2
