People Doubted, but Aml Didn’t Care in Secretariat Stakes

Secretariat Stakes – Grade I
1 1/4 Mile Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st   People Doubted  Aml Racing               Pennington F

It’s not very often we see the odds on favorite drawn wide and still win like the best horse in the race but that’s what happened today for People Doubted. Everyone top pick for this race you could hear the intake of breath when the wide gate speed push sent him into a clear lead but thankfully his class saw him home. He will now head to the BC Turf a live hope for AML alongside his other stable star Taniwha.
2nd   Point Of Royalty  D J C Racing Stables  Court J K

In the same way most people thought People Doubted was the best in the race, most people thought this was the worst but Point Of Royalty proved everyone wrong with a brave second place. This was a career best for the colt and a master stroke by his trainer who once again took the gamble and it very nearly paid off.

3rd   Lone Shadow  Blushing Meadows  Talamo J

Kept on well for third in only his seventh career start and really backed up his surprising run in the Read Stakes. Clearly a useful sort it will be interesting to see where he goes next.

4th   Nuclear Energy  Aer Stables                Colon L H

Trapped wide but on the best part of the track there were no real excuses as he whacked away for fourth. Only having his sixth start though there is clearly some more to come from him and he will be an exciting prospect for the trainer.
