6 Furlongs Stake Purse $300.00 Fillies Two-Year-Olds. At KEE
1st Phantom Protocol Serenity Stables 2-1 HRP *7-5 SRF
Phantom Protocol did well to even up her record at three wins and three losses, and every loss had a logical reason like beaten a neck in her second start, a too early run in a $200.00 stakes race, and that loss by only a length in the DMR Debutante in only the fifth race of her life was almost laughable. Today, under the handling of J R Velazquez, she ran a picture-perfect race laying a stalking third to the far turn, then starting a move around the turn that saw her second at the top of the stretch, and then then it was just a cruise down the lane to watch her pass in timely fashion to register a quarter-length victory.
2nd The Pursuit Mb Stables 4-1 HRP 6-1 SRF
The Pursuit, a virtual baby, only three races before this race, all maiden races horses just don’t step out of maiden wins into $300.00 stakes races and run second. But you just don’t overlook Mb Stables horses, and I did. This lass is really looking like a deep closing monster. In that maiden race, she came from eighth to win by two. Here, she laid fifth into the stretch and moved late to finish second beaten only a quarter-length. If she ever gets her timing worked out, she’ll be unbeatable. Just what Dan needs, another unbeatable horse.
3rd Smooth Criminal D J C Racing Stables 7-1 HRP 8-5 SRF
Race number four Smooth Criminal, and that is a pretty form sheet. That is what is called coming along nicely: second in her debut, won by three lengths at second asking, close third in a $100.00 stakes race in her third and now a sharp third in this race as she stalked in fourth, moved into third coming home but couldn’t match strides with the first two down the lane.
4th Fiamminga Bella Nakamura Stables 9-2 HRP 10-1 SRF
Fiamminga Bella came up from MNR sporting the big-time colours of Nakamura Stables and big-time jockey D E Centeno, ready to take on the big kids and did a damn fine job of it. Although she went wire-to-wire in her debut victory, she looked like she will grow up to be a deep closer as she went sixth from start to stretch and then mistimed the finish and arrived a length too late
