“Pirates” Look to Take TAM and The Endeavour BC

A field of seven will be headed to the post on Saturday afternoon and we look at the field for The Endeavor BC (GIII) going a mile and a sixteenth on the TAM lawn, here in Oldsmar.  I’m headed to the rail for Pirate Petranella as my top choice.  The TAM/Pirate connection is too strong to ignore, well, that and the fact that she was the 2019 BC Juv F Turf champ.  She knocked down a couple of nice wins last season and looks to take down another stakes field here today.  I’ll put Sweetness in the second spot but could have landed on three or four horses here.  She hasn’t won since June, but has been in the middle of quite a few graded races with top-notch competition, and class is important.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Pirate Petranella    Smokey Stover    Centeno D E   122   3/1

The 2019 BC Juv F T (GI) winner took down two graded wins in her sophomore season, scoring in both the Herecomesthebride (GIII) and the Flower Bowl (GI), but was seventh in the BC FM Turf (GI) this season and sold right after that.  She was second and fifth to close out her 2020 season and makes her 4yo debut here.  She can run, no doubt.

2
   Gold Futures    TwinTowersRacing    Bejarano R   122   8/1

On the board in six of nine starts last year including a pair of wins to close out her ’20 season.  Those were OptAlw races and she was fifth in a NY-bred stakes in her season debut.  She’s going to need her best to be involved with this group.

3
   Here Z Comes    First Street Stables    Bahen S R   122   4/1

She closed out ’20 with a win in the My Charmer at GP and was second vs graded horses prior to that so she certainly ended the year in good fashion.  Seven on the board performances last year so she really was a solid competitor in all starts.  She fits well here and should be in the mix.

4
   Sweetness    High Voltage    Franco M   122   7/2

Three wins last year including graded wins in the Providencia Stakes (GIII) at SA and Dancing Smart (GII) at WO and ended the year with four races where she was in the thick of it in each effort.  She runs with tough fields and handles it well so give her a shot here today.

5
   Hallowed Halls    Rock Creek    Gallardo A A   122   5/1

Four wins and a second from seven starts in ’20 and was sold at the Sep Auction, then ran second, fourth and first for the new connections, lighting the tote board when second in the Sandy Point (GII) at 99/1 odds.  She won her close-out race for the year taking the Hope Stakes at FG.  She should be in the middle of this one.

6
Sweet Tip Toe    Estero Farms    Bridgmohan S X   122   9/1

She didn’t get her picture taken in ’20 but was second in a graded race at SA back in May.  She’s been tiring late in all of her recent starts and will need to change that habit if she wants to be a part of this race.

7
   Concordia    Nakamura Stables    Ferrer J C   122   6/1

Won half of her six ’20 starts including a stakes at ELP, and closed out her season with a win at TUP, both on the grass.  She was three for four on the lawn and looks to build on that success here today.  She was seventh in the Matriarch (GI) at DMR, so she does have something to prove vs. graded horses.
