Precise Performance Runs Away with The FG Oaks as Relax Doesn’t Fire

The FG Oaks – GII [KYO]
3/21/20
FG Race 11 1 1/16M – Dirt
Purse $400.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

1st Precise Performance, trained by Mb Stables

The other Mb Stables trained filly took home the money here in this one as she finally ran a big race around two turns. She sat off the pace in a good spot and then when they turned for home she mowed them all down to win. She ran the distance in 1:41.86 and earned $240.000 plus a spot in the Kentucky Oaks.

2nd Cream Soda, trained by Greeko Holdem

The little New Mexico bred filly ran a gallant race in here to get up for second as she ran a lot better than I expected her to. She came from far back in the field to close late and only get beat by a quarter of a length in the end. She made New Mexico proud with her runner up finish.

3rd Prime Illusion, trained by Nakamura Stables

A big time run from this filly on the jump up in class from an allowance victory as it looked like she might even win the race as they turned for home. She loomed up but could not get to the front and edge clear in deep stretch. Still a very good third place finish.

4th Relax, trained by Mb Stables
The champion two year old filly

from last year just simply could not get up for the win for her second loss in a row. She had a good trip and had every chance to win but just flattened out and couldn’t get there. She ran okay but she seems to have lost her form from her two year old season.

Summary

Well the showdown between Relax and Mercy did not happen like I thought it would as Mb Stables other filly Precise Performance upset the field with a big time win. She earned a spot in the Kentucky Oaks and possibly made herself the favorite to win it. Congratulations to Mb Stables and Precise Performance.
