9 CD Winn (GIII)
$125.000 3yo 1 1/16m Dirt 122lbs +penalties
Off to CD and the 3yo’s are front and center in the Winn (GIII) going a mile and a sixteenth here in Louisville. Shocker, I took the Mb Stables entrant, Proud Crown as my top choice. He won the FofY (GII) down at GP in Feb then failed as the favorite in the FL Derby (GI), makes his return today and I think it will be a triumphant return. Sweetly Chai is right next door in the gate and I’ll give him a look although he’s been racing with softer. Won the TUP Derby and his speed can be a very nice weapon.

Four wins in nine starts including the Lecomte (GIII) and FofY (GII) then ran seventh in the FL Derby (GI) while on the TC Trail. Rested since that race and looks to get back on-track in this one. I think this is a spot for him to bring it back home and show that he has some real talent.

Nice win last out taking the TUP Derby in wire-to-wire fashion. This is a tougher group than that, so can he keep it going and bring the money home today? When he gets lose on the lead, you have to fear him.

Broke maiden but it’s been a tough road since. He was second in the Smarty Jones in OP, but didn’t do a lot in either the Rebel (GII) or the BG Stakes (GII). Can he get things back in line or is it another long day at the race track?

Changed hands a pair of times in his last three races and didn’t do much when twelfth of fourteen in the Wood Mem (GII) back in Apr. He’s been rested since that race and has shown some ability running third in the Swale (GIII) and even that fifth in the FofY (GII) was a decent one. What do we get today?

A real up and down type… he won the Breeders Futurity (GI) at KEE and just missed in the Lewis Stakes (GIII) at SA, but has a few bad one’s sprinkled in there as well. Obviously, his best makes him tough, but does he have his best with him right now?
