1st Pure Authority, trained by Joshua Stables

A very big win for this horse right here as he has now qualified for the Derby field with thirty five Derby points. He was far back early and eight lengths off of the lead but he steadily made ground on the leaders until he opened up late to win by a length. He ran the distance in 1:41.68 and earned $120.000 plus a spot in the Kentucky Derby.

2nd Smugglers Blues, trained by John Henry

Also a very gallant run from the far outside by this runner. He was about midpack early on and then fell back to near the rear but he then re-rallied to close nicely to only get beat by a length. He was closing late and he might be a horse we see later on down the road this summer in some of the big races.

3rd Moment In History, trained by Estero Farms

Now this is right here I think ran a very solid race for just coming off of a maiden win going short. He was kind of far back early on and made up a nice amount of ground to at least get up for third. I think that he will improve nicely off of this race and should be tougher on down the road this year.

4th King Niagra, trained by John Henry

This horse also ran a pretty good race as he was very far back early on. He was ten lengths back early on and closed pretty nicely to get up for fourth and he at least earned a little bit of money. He closed nicely and was only beaten by three lengths which wasn’t too bad for how far back he was early.

Summary

A very very big win for Pure Authority as not only does he show he is a quality racehorse he also earns a spot into the Kentucky Derby field. It will be Joshua Stables third runner in the field and that is a very big feat in itself. Congratulations to Pure Authority and Joshua Stables on the win.
