One Mile – Turf

It’s always thrilling to watch a closer get it done – unless you’re the connections. Mb Stables must have had a few anxious seconds when his filly, Queen Rumble, came out of the gate slow and trailed by as many as eight lengths. But in the end, it was a one-two punch for Mb as his two entries, Queen Rumble and Forever Sweet, finished just a nose apart.
The field left the gate as many do, with a leader, in this case I Have To Chai, jumping out to a quick lead. The rest of the field divided themselves into two groups. Queen Rumble was in the last group and quickly fell into last place.
After a furlong, I Have To Chai (Oval Express Farms) led by over a length. Pacino moved into second a length ahead of Forever Sweet on the inside and Butter That Biscuit (Arkansas Elite) on the outside. Next came Super Petty (Team 7 Illusions) and Sioux Chief (Kopites) with Queen Rumble – you guessed it – dead last.
After two furlongs, I Have To Chai still led by a comfortable 1 1/4 length with Pacino (Mo Mentum Farms) still tracking her in second. Forever Sweet got a half length on Butter That Biscuit in third. Behind them Super Petty ran in fifth with Sioux Chief just behind him. Queen Rumble trailed the leader by 7 1/2 lengths.
On the turn, I Have To Chai and Pacino separated themselves from the field by 3 lengths, and Pacino drew closer to I Have To Chai, but could not get past the leader. Forever Sweet held her spot in third while Super Petty challenged Butter That Biscuit for fourth. Queen Rumble trailed by 8 1/2 lengths.
That’s where things started heating up. At the head of the stretch, Pacino collared I Have To Chai. The field cut their lead to a length with Forever Sweet leading the charge and looking for room between them as Super Petty took aim at the leaders. Queen Rumble trailed by 5 and closed ground quickly.
Pacino took the lead briefly as they straightened for home, but Forever Sweet was right there and took over with two furlongs to run. On the outside, Super Petty mounted a challenge, while I Have To Chai tired and faded to fourth. Queen Rumble flew up on the far outside about six wide, closing fast.
With a furlong to run, Queen Rumble had two horses to beat, stable mate Forever Sweet and Super Petty. Forever Sweet led by a length that disappeared with every stride. Queen Rumble and Forever Sweet hit the wire together. But it was Queen Rumble by a nose.
In just two career wins, Queen Rumble by Rumble x Queen Fury (Fire N Fury) has earned $342.400. Congratulations to Queen Rumble and Mb Stables.
