It’s High Fives for High Voltage in DMR Handicap

DMR Handicap – Grade II [BC]
1 3/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $300.00 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st High Fives High Voltage Davis D

First of a huge congratulations to High Voltage to get this one into the BC, it is always great to see the smaller player get success and they certainly deserved this. However, and you knew it was coming, this win shows us once again of the frailty of the game when it comes to handicaps and weight. This horse that had only won twice from 23 races before today, he had never won on the turf before and his previous four turf runs saw him beaten 16 lengths in overnight races. And now he is in the biggest finale of the year the BC Turf as the combination of bottom weight and some inspired AI overcame his obvious lack of recent form. I don’t mean to sound disparaging because we have seen this type of thing many times before and it is great to see this wildcard going to High Voltage who bought this horse two and a half years ago as a maiden and both horse and trainer thoroughly deserve this great success. So good luck to both going forward.

2nd Trouvillle Royalty Stables Gonzalez Ru

Of course the second horse would be another that was carrying bottom weight and had very little stakes form but at least this one’s form was on the surface and over this sort of trip. A consistent sort he tried real hard in second and deserved his moment in the spot light.

3rd Andes Threshold Moran D

The deep closer turned dashing front runner was turned back into a closer by the race engine and did pretty well to grab third after being forced to beat traffic and the width of the track.

4th Two In The Chamber TwinTowersRacing Jaramillo E

Stalked the pace and did pretty well considering he was carrying the mammoth burden of 3Lbs more than the winner.
