Quenched Looks the Top Choice in The Hutcheson Stakes

The Hutcheson Stakes – Grade III
GP Race #7 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $100.000 For Three Year Olds.

1 Black Flags La Canada Racehorses Jimenez A

Struggled a little last year after winning three in a row including the Funny Cide he failed to win again at two but looks back to his best this year with two wins from two 2019 starts. The first of those was in a similar race to this and he backed that up with an impressive allowance win on this track and from this draw. He looks a real sprinting type and should certainly be in anyones top three.

2 Midnight Ride Supremebeast Batista J A

This new trainer looks for just their fifth career win with this ex Night Rider Stables gelding. He too has an ungraded stakes win to his name as a two year old and ran a creditable fourth on seasonal debut in his first start for the trainer. His works say he has the ability to get into this race and he has the perfect draw to give the new player a big thrill.

3 Whats The Big Idea Oquinn Farm Juarez N

Weakened out of the Lewis Stakes last time confirming he is a much better sprinter than router and he comes back to his best trip today, He ran well enough in the Golden Nugget and Champagne Stakes last year to show he has the ability to be competitive in a race like this and a great draw will certainly help him get into the finish.

4 La Grange John Henry Sanchez Jef

The winner of an ungraded stakes last year he struggled when upped in grade but comes back to his level today and won well enough last time out in overnight company to suggest he can make a race of it. He wouldnt be among my favorites for this race but from a good draw should be competitive.

5 Cucamonga Tiratzo Castillo I

Ran well in the Hopeful last year and showed he has trained on with an allowance win and a decent effort when fourth in the Winkfield this year. A son of Pink Panther he is running over his best trip with a nice midfield draw so should be a decent shot at reasonable odds.

6 Timber Rattler Williams9 Albarado R J

Looked good enough in statebred company as a juvenile but was pretty poor in the El Camino last time out and has a little to prove for his new owner. I think this is his best trip so i expect a much better effort today.

7 Black Scorpion Blushing Meadows Jaramillo E

A through and through sprinter he comes from a stable that knows how to win and he is yet another good chance in a very even field. I think this trip is just a bit further than he wants to go but a close seventh in the Best Pal says he can do it and if things go his way he should be there at the end.

8 Remembering Pops TwinTowersRacing Landeros C

A solid enough sprinter he is consistently competitive but may find a few of these just a bit too sharp for him. He finished well enough when a close second over this trip on seasonal debut to suggest he has retained his two year old ability and is not the worst in this close knit field.

9 Table Rock John Henry Saez L

I really could just write ditto about every runner here and this is yet another who has won at ungraded level and been competitive enough to be part of the finish.

10 Quenched Aer Stables Bravo J

For me if this horse was drawn in the top four barriers i would be tipping him for a fairly easy win but as he has drawn out he will need a bit of luck to get his nose in front. The winner of the grade three Nashua last year he also ran a close fifth in the Springboard Mile at the end of the year ad has been close up in two attempts to get into the KYD. The trip maybe on the short side for him but he is a class above these.

12 Sharp And Ready Winning Link Stables Zayas E J

Its a shame this unbeaten colt has drawn the car park but he may find a race like this has come a bit too soon in his career. A good winner of both his races at overnight level this will be a test for him from the outside gate.

SUMMARY

Quenched looks the obvious choice here despite a tough draw which is a good job because there looks to be a cigarette paper between the rest of teh field and it would be hard to pick one horse to chase him home. I am going for a ten way dead heat for second.
