The BEL Oaks – GI
BEL Race 4 1 1/4M – InTurf
Purse $1,000.000
Three Year Olds Fillies
1st Quiver Pond, trained by Estero Farms
My top pick of the race ends up making me look kind of smart as she shows her class to win the BEL Oaks here in this nice race. She came from pretty far back to win too and that’s usually her running style so I’m not surprised she did win the race from that far back. She ran the distance in 1:58.85 and earned $600.000 for the win.
2nd Lake Wendigo, trained by Night Rider Stables
A very good race from her especially since it was her first career start in her life on the turf and she showed up and ran huge on a big stage to run second by a length in here. She sat second pretty much the whole way and then found herself on the lead until Quiver Pond came by her late. Very good effort from her.
3rd Noble Moment, trained by Mb Stables
This Mb Stables trained filly ran a pretty big race also to finish third as she also came from pretty far back in the field like Quiver Pond did. She ran very well she just couldn’t keep up with Quiver Ponds acceleration and couldn’t get last Lake Wendigo in time but she still ran a very good race.
4th Alligator, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Not a bad run from this filly at all I didn’t think. She wasn’t going to ever beat Quiver Pond in here but she still ran on to grab fourth and only ended up getting beat by two lengths when it was all said and done. She could be tougher at the end of the year if she improves off of this race for sure.
Summary
Well I went with the right filly to win this race this go around as Quiver Pond ran a huge race to win this years BEL Oaks. I knew she was at least the class of the field and the switch back to turf would help her out quite a bit and I’m not shocked at the win at all. Congratulations to Estero Farms on the win.
