Race for the Oaks Continues in Silverbulletday Stakes

Silverbulletday Stakes

FG Race 10 1m 70 Dirt Stake

Purse $150.000 For Fillies

Three Years Old

1 Fascinating Gyal, trained by Night Rider Stables

Comes into this race off a 4th place finish in a California state bred stake where she also had the rail and got a perfect rail skimming trip. No works over 6F and the only race over a mile was a 4th in a Grade 1. I am not sure she is good enough or wants the distance so I will be looking elsewhere for the winner.

2 Sheza Cracker, trained by Estero Farms

Picked up from Yahudi Stables for $35.000 this not so well conformed filly ran a fast closing 2nd in an overnight stake in her last out. Her works indicate she could fit here and the distance does not appear like it will be an issue. Should be able to work out a decent trip from the inside and has a chance to get a piece of the pie.

3 Enoughs Enough, trained by Mb Stables

The first of three entries from the sites leading trainer is a lightly raced filly coming off an impressive maiden score. She took an interesting route to her victory, breaking on top then dropping to last before closing into slow fractions to win by more then a length. Her works are strong and I expect her to be right there at the end.

4 Bora Bora, trained by Smokey Stover

Here we find who I anticipate will be our favorite. Has earned $573.000 in 8 starts including 2nd place finishes in the grade 2 Golden Rod and the BC juvenile filly. Has finished first or second in 7 of 8 races and her most recent speed ratings are the highest in the field. She is drawn well and worked a blistering 1.36.3 in preparation for the race. The only negative is that she will spot most of her rivals two pounds but I think she is good enough to still get home first.

5 Harsh, trained by Mb Stables

The second entry from the stable has not been able to find the winners circle since breaking her maiden in August. The three races since have all been stakes efforts though and she certainly has not embarrassed herself in any of them. Her works indicate she fits as well as most others but I prefer some others to her.

6 Fascinating Bottom, trained by Toppedout

This is maybe the most interesting entry in the field as she has won 4 of 7 races but two of those wins were at the free track and 1 of the others was a win in a 3K maiden race. The last win was in a 75K stake where she beat Magic Wheels who came back to win a Grade 2 recently. That race was conducted over a muddy surface though and there does not appear to be any chance of rain for this one. She does not show any works over 4F which only adds to the mystery. I would not be surprised to see this one first or last.

7 Going Quickly, trained by Jive Inc.

Acquired in the most recent auction from Mb Stables for $50.000 this filly is making her stakes debut. Her most recent effort was a victory in a NW1X allowance where she got an easy lead and never looked back. Her works are not quite as quick as most others in here and since I do not anticipate her getting an easy lead I think she will have a tough go of it.

8 Wynaly, trained by Crocker Ggs

Enters this race off of a maiden score at Finger Lakes where she trailed early and rallied impressively to win fairly easily. No works at a mile makes it hard to figure out exactly how she fits but the 6F works are impressive. From a brand new sire and the first foal for the mare so no history to go by there either. I will not be shocked if she shows well but not enough there for her to be my pick.

9 Apert, trained by Mb Stables

The third entry from the powerhouse stable comes into the race off a nice wire to wire score in a NW1X. She has been given almost 3 months off since that win but judging by her works I am not sure she is improving. Given the fairly wide draw I anticipate the stables other entries are stronger.

10 Wild Fate, trained by Williams9

This filly is still a maiden having been unable to finish first in any of her 11 starts. Her works are a notch below the others, she gets a second tier jock and starts from an outside post so there is not much to like about her in this spot.

11 Crop Top, trained by Waldo

Very consistent type with two wins and two seconds from 5 starts. Tries two turns for the first time here and her works seem to indicate she may prefer sprinting. I envision that she will get pushed to the front and will take the field as far as she can.

12 Element of Truth, trained by D J C Racing Stables

Scratched

13 Niagra Mrs, trained by Oval Express Farms

Has been unable to win in a couple of tries routing in low level state bred allowance races and now steps up into stakes company. Speed ratings are a notch below the best in here and mile works are a bit slower so when combined with the extreme outside post this one will have long odds.

Summary

Bora Bora is the class of this field and unless the two pounds proves to be too much she should win here.
