1st      Raining Prince           Nakamura Stables                 *3-2 (HRP) 5-1 (SRF)

 I mentioned in my preview, Raining Prince is a converted dirt horse, winner of the Grade III Hope Stakes at seven-furlongs on dirt at DMR last year and now on his third turf try a grass stakes winner only losing once second by a head. His was a beautifully run 5 1/2 furlong race as he laid just off the leaders in third until the far turn where he made his move toward the front, arriving just in time to score a neck victory.    

2nd      Evil Contained                     Greyhound                 6-1 (HRP) 6-1 (SRF)

Evil Contained won his first three starts on dirt after being picked up by Greyhound for $5.00 from La Gloria Stable, and the after a couple more in the money races on the dirt switched to turf and back and forth proving that he’s not particularly partial to either surface, he did show us one thing in particular, he likes to lead. He jumped into a one-length lead out of the gate and tried to take it all the way but just couldn’t hold the determined finish of Raining Prince.

2nd      Sinister Returns         Simmer Down Stable        18-1 (HRP) 20-1 (SRF)

Sinister Returns was just a very clever claim from La Canada Racehorses for $18.00, and his first run for Simmer Down Stable was a doozie as he dropped back to a very deep stalk around the far turn whereupon he made a strong charge into the stretch to rally down the lane and finish on even terms with Evil Contained.

4th      Lip Service          Invicta Group Llc                 8-1 (HRP) 20-1 (SRF)

Spankys Barn only owned the lightly raced dirt horse Lip Service for one race and changed it to turf. The way he ran that allowance race indicated he like the green stuff, so Invicta Group Llc tried him in this grass race and got a very strong fourth-place finish as the Bold Ruler colt made a race of it all the way.
