Rock Boat Wins Close Finish in Fleet Sprint Handicap

The Fleet Sprint Handicap – Grade III
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Rock Boat, trained by Night Rider Stables
HRP couldnt have given us a bigger clue to the result of this race as this seven year old was dropped in weight after winning a grade three handicap in his last start. He repeated the dose today with a game nose win in a race where first to last was separated by a slightly ridiculous looking three lengths.

2nd The Rook, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Was worse at the weights for a four length beating in the Fool Handicap but still managed to find nearly all that deficit in pushing the winner to a nose. This was a good effort by the four year old but in a race of noses and heads it is difficult to weigh up.

3rd On High Alert, trained by Mb Stables
The son of Commanding who trolled a win at TAM last time flew late and very nearly got the win going down in a close finish by a head. It looks like he is in good form and a win in better grade looks close.

4th Double C, trained by Team 7 Illusions
One of the only wide drawn horses to earn a cheque all day he was forced to the front by the wide speed push and did very well to keep on and be beaten just a half length. It would be interesting to see the result if the draws were reversed and i still think there is a big win in this one.
