Rockin Rodeo Outclasses His Rivals in Prince Of Wales Stakes

Prince of Wales Stakes
1 3/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds Foaled In Canada.

1st       Rockin Rodeo       Nakamura Stables      Carrasco V R

He looked the form choice for this and did it like the best horse in the race coming home by an easy two lengths. Never far away but off the leading group he was always going well and cruised up and won dominantly. This was a great finish to three big runs at State bred level and he is sure to go much further down the line.

2nd       Hint Of Sugar        Arindel        Jaramillo E

Looked the obvious one for the exacta and after running on the speed he did well to hold second even of it didn’t look likely he would hold the winner. The draw certainly made a difference after his disappointing run from a bad draw in the Queens Plate and with the right conditions he should find a good race in the future.

3rd       Gambier Island       Wood Duck Stables         Velazquez J R

Though he was out classed by the first two it has to be said this recent maiden winner ran pretty well to take third and with his limited experience should take improvement from this. Just off the front three he didn’t find much down the stretch but this is his first time beyond a mile and i am not entirely sure this is his optimum trip. Back down in trip he will be winning again soon.

4th      Command General     Nakamura Stables       Hernandez C J

The final paying place went to this gelding who tried to get into the race early and was pretty competitive before fading. This class was beyond him today but this was not a bad effort and at least he gained a little compensation for his trip.
