Fleur De Lis Handicap – Grade II [BC]
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Rosemari Perfect, trained by Ekli Stables
I had predicted this three year old might be best in a tight handicap and so that proved as she came away to win by an impressive four lengths. Always travelling well and keeping the leader in her sights she strode effortlessly in a performance that could prompt the start of the three year old domination of the staying ranks. She was a very good two year old but wasn’t tested at three and that patience is paying off now.
2nd Le Fue de Quest, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Was given plenty to do and found it too hard in the easier ground to make up the start she had given the winner. I am not sure she could’ve beaten the three year old anyway but once again she gave an honest account of herself in second spot.
3rd Charred Mayhem, trained by Team 7 Illusions
This was another good effort in this grade by the lightly raced daughter of Charley Farley and one feels she is warming up for a big win. Whether she doesn’t get this trip or whether she lacks a turn of foot will only be found in the future as once again she faded at the end of her race. I am thinking a mile may be her best trip but she has managed to win over a mile and a quarter so it may just come down to finish.
4th Helping Hand, trained by Mb Stables
Never got in this and was beaten a fair way.
5th Living Dead Girl, trained by Aer Stables
Was pretty poor and it would take a cleverer person than me to come up with the reason she was so poor.
6th Sparkling What, trained by Mb Stables
Started favourite but I had a feeling she wasn’t worth the starting price although she ran far worse than I thought she would. Leading early she feel away very tamely and like the fifth placed horse I cannot explain this poor effort.
