Two Horses Punch Their Ticket to BC Mile in Shoemaker Mile.

In an exciting edition of the Shoemaker Mile two horse punched there ticket to the big dance. As the gates opened and into the first furlong of the race Silver Bullet jumped right out to the lead pulling ¼ of a length ahead of French Appeal and Irish Flu, with Hollywood Freak sitting just behind them in fourth. French Appeal did not like being second so he jumped on the gas and six and a half furlongs from home he fired right on by French Appeal with Irish Flu doing the same thing. Halfway through the race French Appeal and Irish Flu will still both first and second. With Silver Bullet holding onto third, and Full Speed Ahead was making a rail bid in fourth. Just past the halfway point Irish Flu was done stalking French Appeal and decided to power past him on the inside. Just inside of three furlongs out Irish Flu was looking strong on the lead and French Appeal was starting to back up, and was passed by Silver Bullet for second, and Seven Years had moved into fourth. Two Furlongs out from the wire Silver Bullet had pulled up eye to eye with Irish Flu and appeared as if he may run right on by him, with danger lurking behind both of these leaders in the form of Seven Years in third and Hollywood Freak in fourth. One furlong from home Silver Bullet appeared to had put away Irish Flu and Seven Years appeared to be making his move and was ¾ a length behind Silver Bullet looking as if he had the wire well measured with Hollywood Freak a clear fourth. The final furlong was a mad dash for the finish line where the unthinkable happened, Irish Flu re-rallied and made a hard charge at Silver Bullet to the finish, and both Seven Years and Hollywood Freak really made a push for the line creating a blanket finish. When it all shook out Irish Flu had done enough to get to the leader Silver Bullet at the wire….just enough as there was a dead heat for first, so both horses punched there ticket to the Breeders Cup. Seven Years finished third and Hollywood freak finished fourth. There was .05 seconds though from first through fourth. This is the way that you want all Grade 1 races to draw, and more importantly end up. Congrats to both Sanny Village and Joseph Racing on their dead heat win. Lets look at the breakdown and pay outs.
