Looking up? heck yeah! Never far off of the pace, High Voltage’s Royally Bred got up late and won the SSM F/M Turf Sprint by a neck in a quick final time of 1:01.82 for the five and a half furlongs. Post time favorite Prada had the lead in the stretch but could not hold off the winner and settle for the place. Deliberate Speed came from off the pace to claim the third spot.
The field of five loaded into the gate for this down-hill dash and were away in good order with Abby G showing speed from the outside, Prada next to that one, then back to the rail for Royally Bred, Deliberate Speed a length back and Burning Forest.
Continuing down the hill-side, Abby G held a two length advantage over Prada. Another length to Royally Bred, then a gap of two back to the trailing duo of Deliberate Speed and Burning Forest.
Crossing over the main track and to the top of the lane with three-sixteenths to run, Abby G continued to show the way by a length, Prada now set down and trying to aim at the leader, a gap of two back to Royally Bred now being asked for more, then another gap of two back to Deliberate Speed and Burning Forest.
Inside the final eighth and to the finish, Prada now gaining the lead with Royally Bred coming at that one fast, Abby G had enough and was backing out of it, Deliberate Speed closing a late gap and Burning Forest at the back… but as they neared the finish, Royally Bred was not to be denied and went by Prada in the closing strides to win by a neck. Prada settled for the second spot a length in front of Deliberate Speed. Abby G tired late to be fourth and Burning Forest closed this one out.
Royally Bred is a 3yo black filly by King Of Hearts – Nebraska Royal, by Mystical Nebraska, and she was bred by Jediminds Stable in Ca. Acquired by High Voltage via private purchase for $35.000, she now shows three wins from seven starts, this being her first stakes score, and she has $147.260 in lifetime earnings. 2020 looks like a big year for this one.

Royally Bred sat behind the pace, responded when asked, up on the wire, won driving. Prada tracked the leader for four and a half furlongs, took the lead mid-stretch, could not contain the winner. Deliberate Speed was under a hold, some late foot. Abby G set the pace for four and a half furlongs, spent. Burning Forest was outrun.
