Rules Are Madness Sounds More Like a Cry from the Forums than the Winner of The Gamely Stakes

The Gamely Stakes – Grade I

1st Rules Are Madness Angelos Stable Court J K

After a disappointing sixth two lengths behind Credit The Cat in the Wiley she turned that around to beat that same horse by 8 lengths today over a similar trip with similar splits. How different two races can be but that is the beauty of a game where a click of the instruction button or the changes of stable form or draw can mean so much. In truth this was her true self rather than the filly that ran in the Wiley, just off the pace she came through for a half length win from the perfect draw with the perfect trip. She has certainly come a long way from the three year old that was claimed in April last year and her road to the BC Fillies and Mares looks already set.

2nd Fomalhaut John Henry Gaffalione T

Taken back from the widish gate she flew home but the post came too soon and whilst this represented a great improvement of recent form she has always looked capable of this sort of run at this level. The six year old clearly has more miles on the clock.

3rd Pirate Petranella Diablo Diablo Davis D

With the weight allowance a little more realistic this filly did pretty well to get third just a length off the winner. Prominent for the whole trip she couldn’t quicken up in the end but this was much more like the filly that won the BC Juvenile Fillies last year and i am sure with a larger weight allowance she will be winning grade ones again soon.

4th Sweetness High Voltage Van Dyke D

The second three year old to make the top four despite the smaller weight difference she is certainly proving an excellent filly for the trainer after they picked it up for just $40 at the end of last year.
