Sacred Scrolls Stays Hot, Takes Stall Memorial Stakes

   6    FG    Stall Memorial Stakes

$100.000     4yo&Up F&M     1 1/16m Turf    123 pounds +penalties

Let’s make it three-for-four…  Sacred Scrolls kept her hot hand going for La Canada Racehorses as the bay mare stayed near the pace throughout Saturday’s Stall Memorial Stakes at FG.  But when the cash was in front of her, she went by to score by a quarter length in a final time of 1:402 for the mile and a sixteenth grass stakes.  The turf course was listed as Firm.  Capo Chino, sent off as the 18/1 outsider, had the lead when they turned for home but couldn’t hold off the eventual winner, settling for the place and proving why the handicapping contest will be a ruse until they fix the payoffs.  Nurses was a half length back in third with post-time favorite Summer Day taking the minor money.

Sacred Scrolls is a 6yo bay mare by Kildale – Hieratic, by Sir Peter Teazle, and she was bred in Cal by Tatania Farm.  Acquired by La Canada Racehorses for $22.250 by private purchase back in Jan of last season, she now has five wins from sixteen starts and earnings of $233.040.  Congrats to the connections!

Sacred Scrolls sat behind the pace 2p, swung widest for the drive, up inside the final sixteenth, won driving.  Capo Chino pressed the pace, disposed of foe into the far turn, led to the sixteen pole, headed, settled.  Nurses gave an even effort, best foot too late.  Summers Day was never involved.   De Nada set a challenged pace to the far turn, folded.
