Left coast and Sunday Stakes Action… always good stuff.  We look at the field for the Santa Maria Stakes (GII) a mile and a sixteenth main track test for the older ladies and we get a classy bunch here.  The Green Card says to head-out to the far outside post for the selection, as they take Wavy Girl as the pick here.  She had a huge ’23 season putting up a 5-1-1 record from her seven starts, and closed out the year with a neck-miss in the BC Distaff (GI)… but, ’24 has been a different story, thus far, showing a fourth in the HOU Ladies (GIII) and a tiring fifth in the Azeri BC (GII)… can she turn it around here?  Let’s duck-down to the rail as Appreciate is The Card’s second choice.  She’s a horse that never seems to run a bad race and has been 1/2 for as far back as the eye can see… three starts this season, showing a win last out at GP vs. Alw types, along with a pair of runner-up finishes, one of those at today’s distance over this track… she’s tough.
