Scarlett Dream improved to 3-3 since donning the Arindel silks as she crushed eleven rivals in the G1 Alcibiades at KEE on Friday. The win guarantees her spot in the gate for next month’s G1 BC Juvenile Fillies and increased her earnings to $429.400 with three wins from four starts. Since being purchased for $180.000 following a 4th-place debut, the filly had taken two races at SAR before Friday’s authoritative score.
Breaking from stall 10, Scarlett Dream was away three-wide while racing in a quartet of horses just behind the tracking flight. As they rounded the first turn, L. Saez eased his mount back to 9th while Enunciate posted a :23.69 opening quarter-mile. The eventual winner held her path and moved up a spot as Enunciate completed a half in :47.45.
Scarlett Dream moved out to the center of the course while rounding the final bend and began picking off horses with three furlongs to go. Calm Fury picked up the lead when her stablemate began to falter after three-quarters went in 1:11.40; however, while still running in eighth, Scarlett Dream was moving the best of the group and was reducing her deficit with every stride.
As Calm Fury led the field into the stretch, Scarlett Dream was fifth and moving forward. The Arindel-trainee took command at the sixteenth pole and increased her advantage with each powerful stride through the wire. Scarlett Dream completed the 8.5-furlongs in 1:42.31 and almost two lengths clear of Calm Fury. The latter did well to hold off Doctor Quinn for the place and Cold Storage was just another half-length back in fourth. Completing the order of finish were Black Moon Concerto, Rabbitt Bay, El Gran Quench, Liberty Lake, Enunciate, Creepy Chili, Tomahawk War, and Smokin Cara.
Congratulations to Scarlett Dream and Arindel on their G1 Alcibiades victory and good luck to them when they return to KEE next month for the BC!
