Secret Eyes Sees The Frizette Victory

The Frizette (Grade 1) (BC) (KYO)- $325.000 Purse
BEL- For Fillies Two Years Old
One Mile on the Dirt
October 10, 2020

The Frizette kicked off the Pick ‘em for the day, and there were not many people that went with the eventual winner, Secret Eyes, as she was selected by just 4.8% of those participating. It would not be a great day for the three most common selections, and that includes the horse that we picked in the preview. The race just shows how two year old racing can be so unpredictable, because all of these horses have potential and are just beginning to live up to it. Secret Eyes would go off at odds of about 11/1 for Gdp Inc, but that did not matter to her, as she got her trainer his first win in the race, and jockey Ru Fuentes is also a first time winner. Now, the BC Juvenile Fillies awaits in what should be another wide open event. Congratulations to the winners! The race went in a time of 1:35.46, the second fastest running of the race. Let’s take a look!

1st- 4- Secret Eyes (11/1) (Gdp Inc)- Just off the lead at the start, running along the inside of the track, and within two lengths of the lead. Looks to follow the pacesetter, Golden Bay, on the rail during the turn. Needs to come down off the rail due to that one’s fade, and ends up in a position alongside Big Challenge. Within half a length of the lead at the top of the stretch. Took over the lead pretty quickly, and runs steady to the wire, winning by a length.

2nd- 5- Ma Party (18/1) (Chili King Stables)- Goes to the back and saves ground at the start of the race. Stays at the back for the majority of the race, and is gifted with a wide open rail entering the top of the stretch, needing to make up four lengths. Strong within the final furlong, but may have waited a bit too long to kick it in gear.

3rd- 11- Big Challenge (30/1) (Waldo)- Quick out of the gate and leads the field down much of the backstretch to start the race off, before settling into the second position. Continues to run well within the turn, and clings to a slight lead into the stretch. Battles just enough to keep third.

4th- 12- Grazin At Sunrise (7/1) (Smokey Stover)- Goes right to the back from her outside post, and is ahead of only Ma Party. Part of the wall of horses that set up in the middle of the field at the top of the stretch. Made a steady advance in the stretch and will be worth watching for longer distances.

5th- 2- Foregone Conclusion (6/1) (D J C Racing Stables)- Runs in the middle of the field down the backstretch. Looked good while rounding the turn, and at the top of the stretch she started to look like the biggest threat to Secret Eyes.

6th- 7- Rum Dummy (13/1) (Mb Stables)- Near the back early, five lengths from the lead. Held this spot, but never would get involved with the frontrunners, and is simply the best of the rest.

7th- 10- Ruffians Legacy (27/1) (Fractious)- Uses the fourth lane as towards the back early. Forced to run outside most of the way, and is not able to make a move.

8th- 3- Ms Joyce (7/2) (RNP Stables)- Runs in the middle of the field early on. Held steady most of the way, but the post time favorite was never a factor.

9th- 1- Class On Class (22/1) (Fractious)- Holds a midpack position early, and tries to squeeze herself in alongside Secret Eyes and to the inside of Foregone Conclusion. Lacked stretch response.

10th- 8- Z Plenty (5/1)- (LionKing Stables)- Just off the lead early, running to the outside of Secret Eyes. Held this outside line most of the way and seemed poised for better entering the stretch and it does her in.

11th- 6- Undervalued (7/1) (Mb Stables)- Towards the back to start, running beside her stablemate early on. Remains near the back through the turn, and when it came time for the stretch run, she did not have any sort of run coming.

12th- 9- Golden Bay (7/1) (Our Athletes)- Started better then she finished, being with the leader early, and took over the top spot prior to the turn. Faded midway through the turn.

About The Winner- Secret Eyes, trained by Gdp Inc and ridden to victory by Ru Fuentes is a two year old filly by Entice and is out of Spanish Eyes. She was bred by Gdp Inc in New York as a first quarter two year old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her third in five starts, and her second stake win. Her career earnings are now $307.460.
