The down-hill course gave us an exciting finish but when the stewards went to the photo, Ava Gardner from Big Jd Racing and La Canada Racehorses‘ Ice Barbie could not be separated, the winners’ circle for the Senorita Stakes (GIII) was busy. That’s five lifetime wins for Eva Gardner, three of those this season, and she now shows $210.44 in earnings. Ice Barbie now shows four wins from six starts, her third of the year and her first stakes score, and she now has $192.80 in lifetime earnings.
High Voltage nails down the third spot as Shes So Pretty, dismissed at nearly 25/1 odds, was just a head back in third, then a half length to post time favorite and Williams9 owned Extreme Hobbit brought home the minor share. Five lengths covered the field of nine, there were no scratches and the final running time was 1:123 for the six and a half furlongs over the firm SA turf.
