Shoemaker Mile G1 1 Mile on Turf
Purse $300.00 For Three Year Olds And Upward.
Santa Anita Park Arcadia, Ca
As expected, Seven Crystal Water Stakes11111Is Lucky from Mb Stables won the Shoemaker Mile with a well-timed and patient ride from JR Velazquez. Our regular readers were thrilled with the price to boot, as the seven-year-old did not go favored when reportedly the owners of Sioux Arrival laid down some serious late money., The win pushes Seven Is Lucky to lifetime earning now of just over $3,200. Congrats to the connections. Sioux Arrival from High Voltage ran a banger to just miss, no wonder they made the big bet. The six year old gelding looked like a winner on the turn, but could not hold off the Mb Stables runner late. Good effort on the afternoon. Extravagant from Bigchief Stables followed up his win in the American Stakes with a solid performance here, just a quarter length off the top two on the afternoon. Brit Style from Lemax Farms sat near the back and charged home to run fourth in a solid effort to prove that his win in Kentucky was no fluke.
Of The Rest:
Evil Lives Here from DJC Racing ran a monster race when you consider his past performances. He tried a theft and for three-quarters gave a darn good sight. I don’t think he will be waiting too long for a score. A slight drop in class might be all he needs. Somebody knew a solid effort was in the cards today, because he took a ton of late money.
Penal Hockey Party from Maxmillion Farm dropped eight or so off the pace as expected and made one late move. It was just a little, too little, too late on the afternoon.
Oh Brother from Threshold was in the vanguard early and then just ran even for the remainder, before tiring in the stretch drive to run seventh. He looks like a significant drop is probably in the cards.
The Mad King from John Henry came into today looking for the hat trick, but ends the day running last. My guess is that he will drop and continue on with his great claim story.
