Marathon females will be going a mile and five sixteenths on the undulating dog-leg, here in SoKy and we look at the field for the Ladies Marathon (GIII). Number Nine is a horse that just never seems to run a bad race, hitting the board in twenty-two of thirty-one starts, and she hasn’t missed a check this year. That was a nice win in the Glens Falls (GII) at SAR last out and it’s hard for me to go past her. Robber Baroness is making her ninth lifetime start, but she’s been as tough as nails every single time they put her in the starting gate. I’d expect another big run in this one, as well. Let’s go back towards the inside and give All By Myself a big look. She’s another that never runs bad and has been right in the thick of every race this season… no reason to stop looking at her now.
Here’s The Field –
Number Nine | Smokey Stover | Loveberry J | 122 | 9/5 |
Looked good winning the Glens Falls (GII) at SAR last out, and was second in the RGD at DEL prior to that race. Her only off-the-board seasonal start was a fourth, so you know she can run and bring home the bacon. She may be the one to beat here today.
All By Myself | TwinTowersRacing | Sanchez M J | 122 | 3/1 |
She won to kick-off the season but hasn’t been back in the winner’s circle since, but don’t let that fool you as she’s run off a long string of up-close on-the board races, and no reason to think she won’t be in the thick of it here. She was only two length back as the runner-up in the Beverly D (GI) at CD in her most recent, so use her on all tickets.
Stinky Rene | TwinTowersRacing | Gonzalez Ru | 119 | 7/1 |
She’s been close in a number of ’22 starts but struggled in her last pair while facing graded horses. It won’t get any easier here, but she can certainly run and must be given a punchers chance. This is a tricky course and some horses love it so she could pull the upset.
Party In The Brig | Mo Mentum Farm | Lopez P | 122 | 5/1 |
Her last four starts have been lights out, showing three wins and a second in that string of starts. She won the LA Cup Distaff last out, moving up in distance and extends a bit more today. She seems to love the longer races, so maybe she just keeps going in this one as well.
Talk Of The North | Mb Stables | Hernandez R M | 119 | 6/1 |
Lightly raced 3yo from the big barn and I’d probably move right past her, but it’s Mb and you just can’t do that. She broke maiden at second asking, then ran fifth in that graded race at DMR, only to fire back big and take out NY-bred stakes company at SAR in her most recent. Those last two starts were at a mile, so she go longer and we see what she’s made of.
Made The Choice High | First Flight Stable | Geroux F | 122 | 15/1 |
I expect her to fall out of the gate some 10-15 lengths off of the pace and mount some small charge in the late stages to make it look good, and remember, that update is coming… soon… but that’s just my opinion.
Robber Baroness | Aarons Hosses | Rocco J S Jr | 122 | 7/2 |
Three wins in a row, four wins from her last five… and this one is on top of her game right now. Only eight starts, which she’s won half of, add in another second and you have a real nice filly. That was a nice run in the CCT Stakes at DMR last out, and she could just keep on going today, as well.
