Big Field for a Big Purse in KD Ladies Sprint

9/10/22

2   KD      KD Ladies Sprint (GIII)

       $600.000          3yo&Up F&M       6 1/2 Turf         3yo 119lbs  Older 122lbs

It isn’t often the female sprinters get to run for money like this, but the KD Ladies Sprint (GIII) is a pile of cash and it brings out the big girls.  I’m going with Cassandra G as the top pick… she’s one of my favorite sprinting females, has been tough as nails this season and I think she will like this course.  Another that can’t be ignored is Lady Of Lord.  Does she ever miss a check… obviously, the answer is no.  I was between Ms Joyce and Data Overload on who will bounce back and went with Data Overload, as Mb just seems to never let a horse run two bad races.

It’s a deep deep field and this should be a good one…

Here’s The Field –

1
   Hollywood Babe    Maxmillion Farm    Velazquez J R   119   7/2

So the Max couple catches the two inside posts, but with the dog-leg, is that an advantage?  Either way, this one has been running lights out of late, and I’d expect another big effort in this one.  Give her a big shot at getting her picture taken.

2
Return To Sender    Maxmillion Farm    Cedillo A   119   6/1

She’s just getting better and looked good as the runner up in that Cal bred stakes at DMR last out.  This is her first race with graded foes, but she has speed and makes a nice one-two punch for this outfit.  She could surprise.

3
   Cassandra G    Angelos Stable    Lopez P   122   5/1

I love this mare and she comes in to this off of that win in the Caress (GIII) at SAR, so she’s hitting on all cylinders right now.  I think you have to user her on all tickets as you head towards the windows.

4
   Marner    Mb Stables    Hernandez R M   122   8/1

Three wins from six starts this season, and with 500+ wins already, the big barn is tough to get past right now, winning at a one-in-four rate.  He’s a bad-ass, for sure.  Her only bad race was at a mile and an eighth, and I don’t think that’s her game, so throw that out and look for another big effort in this one.

5
Great Beneficiary    Smokey Stover    Franco M   119   7/1

Bounced back from that seventh vs. NY bred stakes horses to be third in the Galway at SAR in her most recent.  Another with three wins on the year and when she’s right, she has speed to burn.  Watch her if she gets loose.

6
Lady Of Lord    Our Athletes    Saez L   122   3/1

She hasn’t been off of the board this year showing two wins, two runner-up efforts and a third from her five trips to the gate.  She makes money like an ATM… only missing the board once last season… you get the picture, she’s ALWAYS tough.

7
Data Overload    Mb Stables    2Gutierrez Mario   122   4/1

A bit of a disappointment last out when fifth in the Caress (GIII) at SAR, but she has three wins on the season, two of those were stakes scores, and you know the big barn comes to take home the cash.   Put a line thru that last race and look for her to be in the middle of things.

8
Ace Queen    Ace Racing Stable    Geroux F   119   8/1

She’s won three of her last four races including the Daisycutter Hcp at DMR.  She loves to sprint has has speed speed and more speed, which is never a bad thing.  You may gets some odds here, so if you are betting, that may help you out.

9
   Gummy    High Voltage    Davis D   122   8/1

Nine wins from twenty-seven lifetime starts, and she has eight other on the board finishes, yeah, she can run.  Add in that she’s been fourth in her last two starts and you know, she’s always around for a check.  She’s been tiring of late, so she needs to turn that around.

10
State Of Arc    Smokey Stover    Jaramillo E   119   10/1

She’s always close, but she’s never been with this kind of horse, so it will be interesting to see how she goes.  Smart barn, so they aren’t here just to put one in a stakes race… she can run.

11
   Ms Joyce    RNP Stables    Ferrer J C   122   10/1

Things were rolling right along, three wins in four races and the other start was a third, then a ninth in the Honorable Miss Hcp (GII) at SAR.  Now, she was high weight in that race, so this may get her back on track.

12
   Glip Glop    TwinTowersRacing    Gaffalione T   119   12/1

Won back to back races of a lesser taste, but was second in the SAR Oaks (GIII), closing like a freight train in that one.  This is shorter, so can they change her style to get her close when they turn for home?  If so, she could have upset written all over her.

13
Chorus    Mb Stables    Silvera Ru   119   12/1

Broke maiden at SAR, then was a tiring fifth over that track in the Riskaverse, so it’s back to the spriting distance.  This barn knows a horse, so don’t ignore her at a price.

14
   Nuka    Angelos Stable    Hernandez C J   119   10/1

Nice purchase, nabbed from the June Auction for $26.000 then was third at the Alw level, only to the win the Gaming Distaff Turf Sprint at ELP.  That was a small field, but a quick time, so she could be any type.
