Seven Sprinters in Aristides BC

RACE 7 CD    Aristides BC (GIII)

Purse $100.000   3yo&Up     6f     Dirt

A nice group of sprinters will assemble for the 2015 Aristides BC (GIII) at CD.  The 6f test has drawn a field that should be very competitive and I’m probably picking chalk as Moon Landing and Mb Stables gets my nod.  Purchased privately for $150.000, the 3yo gelded son of Laffin Moon came right back under the new hands to win the Decathlon at MTH by four lengths.  He only adds one pound for this outing so he certainly should draw the punters attention. I’ll play 5/4 and 5/6 in the exactas and hope for a profit.

Here’s the Field…

1
 Supervolt  Team 7 Illusions  Lanerie C J         10/1 118

Got back to the winning ways last out taking an OptAlw group at SA at today’s distance.  He’s still young and this is a salty group, but you have to respect that 1:09 and 1 for the 6f.  I’ll probably look at some others but I won’t be surprised if he pulls the surprise.

2
 Welcome Change  Alydar Stables  Borel C H        8/1 124

Talk about some salt… this one was looking tough taking the Toboggan (GIII) at AQU back in Feb, but he hasn’t been able to get back to the winner’s circle since then.  He closed well to be fourth beaten a quarter length over this track last out, so they have to push the button a bit earlier.  I’d give him a good chance today.

3
Alternation  Night Rider Stables  Hill C        12/1 124

Had a nice three-race win streak going, but graded stakes types have been tough to get past.  Still, he was only beaten a length in each of those races, so he’s certainly right there with some good horses.  He is another that needs to find the accelerator a bit earlier to get the job done and I wouldn’t ignore him.

4
Trench Admiral  Grimley  Santana R Jr      6/1 118

Missed by a neck over this surface and at today’s distance when second in the Walker.  He did all of the heavy lifting in that one and just couldn’t last to the wire.  Sharp works here getting ready for today and he may be the horse to beat, even as a 3yo.

5
 Moon Landing  Mb Stables  Bridgmohan S X   8/5 118

Private purchase by Mb Stables and you guessed it… came right back to win by four at MTH, and at today’s distance.  Snappy time of 1:08 and three that afternoon and you have to think that he is ready to fire right back, even though it’s a bit quicker than many would re-enter.  Another that’s only three but has speed to burn.

6
Arctic Breeze  Aer Stables  Hernandez B J Jr      3/1 124

Third at WO in a stakes at the 6f distance and was sold after that race.  He’s ALWAYS in the picture and no reason to think that he shouldn’t get a minor share in this one.  If it sets up right, he could do better than that.

7
The Octopus  Nakamura Stables  Mena M     15/1 124

Has been going two turns of late and cuts back in distance trying to get a win.  Back-to-back wins to close out 14 and kick off  ’15 at a mile and a sixteenth, so if speed begins to deteriorate, he could be the one to pick up the pieces.  Still, I think they’d be happy with a minor share of this one.
