Seven To Mia Could Be the Answer in Tight Race

The Rampart – Grade III

GP   Race #5   1m   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $100.000  For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 Ocala Express, trained by D J C Racing Stables
This three year old has definately found some improvement since the summer, moving through the
grades and winning two ungraded stakes in her last two starts. Both in small fields like this
one she raced in a close stalk and won them both handily. With a great record of two from two
in routes this could be her perfect trip and with early speed to burn she will be hard to beat.
Her works are only fair rather than outstanding but all her talking has been on the racecourse
so that doesnt put me off.

2 Virginia Waters, trained by Wolfs Den
Also the winner of an ungraded stakes this year she was bought cheaply from Mb Stables in the
summer. She has been running in sprints all year but proved she could run all day as a two
year old so the trip doesnt bother me. Her works are pretty strong and she is very consistent
so it is easy to give her every chance in this short field.

3 Seven To Mia, trained by Smokey Stover
Another with a ungraded stakes win she has also been sprinting all year but also had success
in routes as a two year old. She ran out the seven furlongs very strongly when taking the Grable
Stakes last time out and probably has the strongest set of recent works in the field so she
could easily be the answer in a tight race.

4 Missing Matter, trained by Paradise Stables
Again there are similarities here, an ungraded stakes winner with a good winning record and pretty
good work times. Her stakes win came in the Te Ata Stakes but like that win and her others this
year it is a click below the class of the others. She could easily win in a small field where
tactics may well win the race but on paper she is a pound or two behind.

SUMMARY
Such is the strength of the improvement curve the three year olds have been handed this year that
all the older horses are munching grass whilst the three year olds are battling for late season
black type. There four are very close on form so you have to look at winning times and work times
to seperate them. In doing that i come out with Seven To Mia on top but really anything can
happen in a small field at this time of year.
