Seven to Gate in Eclipse Stakes

RACE 7 WO

5/28/2016  Post Time 3:00PM
Eclipse Stakes (GII)
$200.000    4yo&Up   1  1/16m   Dirt

1
Salt Lake City  Boomtown  Contreras L      7/1 122

Was up the track at CT in the big race there after back to back wins and that second victory was in the Donn (GI) so you know he has some real talent.  I’m not sure which horse we have here today but you have to give him a look because when he’s good he’s REAL good.

 Flying Warrior  Axeman  Olguin G L      6/1 122

Seems to be an all or nothing type…  he’s been tough vs. some very good horses but was thirteenth in the SA Hcp (GI) and was ninth in the San Pascal (GII) so he is known to throw a poor race.  If he runs his best then he could be right in the middle of it… if not, then it will be an long afternoon.

Lettucerocku  Night Mare Racing  Da Silva E R      6/1 122

Made a huge late move in the FON Stake to get the job done that afternoon.  That was a nice bounce back from a horse that has won some nice cash in his life but certainly appeared to have his best days behind him.  The question here is did he find that old mojo or was it just a soft enough field that he got by on that day?  I’ll look at others.

Seeking The Wild  Eastern Equine  Campbell J M      10/1 122

Hasn’t seen the winner’s circle since last June when he took the Winn (GIII) at CD on a damp track.  He’s been close a couple of times since then but he does look a bit over-matched here today.  I can’t get on his bandwagon at this time.

5
 Pinnacle West  Tiratzo  Moran D      4/1 122

Well goodness knows he’s a class type but only a couple of thirds from two starts since being purchased for big bucks back in March.  Is this the place for him to get back on-track or is it more minor money for the big guy?

6
Make A Fortune  Mb Stables  Garcia Alan    5/2 122

Solid handicap horse that was close last out in the Ali (GIII) at KEE and won at HOU prior to that outing.  He was second facing graded horses at GP to kick off the year… so you get the picture… he’s a solid competitor every time they take him over to the gate.

 Galvaston  Hay Makers Inc.  Bahen S R     4/1 122

Stopped late when ninth at CT but does show a win this season (ALW) and won four of nine starts last year.  I’m not tickled about the post draw, but if he can get a decent run at ’em, he could be a serious threat in the late stages here today.
