  7  CT    CT Classic (GII)

$1,000.000    3yo&Up   1 1/8m Dirt    3yo 118lbs  Older 123lbs

A fantastic night of racing at CT as Scotty and his one-horse barn won the first (by 14 lengths), I won a stakes, and Arindel claimed the big prize as Seydoux II got up in the final strides to win the lion’s share of the $1,000.000 CT Classic (GII) purse, scoring by a neck in a final time of 1:474 for the three-turn mile and an eighth distance.  The winner was the luke warm fourth choice, sent off at 5/1 odds.  Anna Da Artist, a 16/1 outsider and second pick here, set or pressed the pace throughout, ran huge down the lane but just could not hold off the determined winner, taking the second spot.  Sexy Back, the 7/2 second choice was a neck back in third, nosing out Walk Naked, who took home the minor share.

That’s back-to-back wins for the Arindel barn, as they took last years race with Oleg.

It’s an absolute shame that a large number of other stakes were absent from the HRP festivities.  The Bob Hilton Stakes is one of my favs.
