Second straight win for Rampage Stable’s Sharp Suit in her stakes debut in the Grade II Sorrento Stakes at DMR. Trailing early, jockey F Prat sent her to challenge very late and she got up to score by a length. This was the third start and second win for the filly, sending her world ranking to 104. She was sent off at 5-1.
La Canada Racehorses’ Test Of Time stalked the leaders to the far turn until unleashed for the drive home, took the lead into the stretch, but was unable to deny the winner to the wire. This was the 11-1 shot’s second stakes placing in as many tries. Night Rider Stables’ Spicy Poke 9-2 runner finished third in her first stakes attempt fighting courageously to the wire to miss by a length. Fractious’ Navette came into the stretch late to finish in a dead heat for fourth a length back at 5-1 while Sanny Village’s Southern Sleuth was the other half of fourth at 15-1 closing from last for the tie.
