Should We Take a Hint Of Sugar in Lake Ontario Stakes

Lake Ontario Stakes
WO Race #2 1 1/16m Dirt Stake
Purse $100.000 For Three Year Olds Foaled In ON.

1 Adam de Sidley The Sidley Stud Boulanger G

The son of Ginger Haggis hasn’t really been setting the world alight but there has been a bit of improvement recently and i just wonder whether the gelding is finally going up its improvement curve after 17 races. Two big efforts in good company in his last two and a sharpening of the work times and he could be a value bet with some decent odds.

2 Speter Nakamura Stables Ryan S

Close up in the LA Futurity at two that prompted a go at the Davis early in the year but a couple of failures saw him sold and bought by his current owner. Since then he has improved running two good placings at stakes level in his last two and given he has the perfect draw he cannot be ruled out a big run here.

3 Crack Danz John Henry Bridgmohan S X

The winner of the grade one Pharaoh at two he was aimed high by both Gdp Inc who sold him for $500 and Fractious who sold him for $400 two races later. Sadly since those heady juvenile days he has done nothing but has to be fair been competing on a very big stage. There is obviously talent there, whether we get to see it again is another matter.

4 Paulie Arindel Moran D

Lightly raced and a regular in claimers i feel the trainer has dodged the claim bullet with this one who may just be improving at the right time. The winner of three of his last four and with a work time of 1.36 and 2 he may look out of his depth on paper but i don’t think he is.

5 Hint Of Sugar Arindel Bahen S R

Second in a grade one, only two lengths behind Howl To The Hound in the KYD and the winner of nearly $500 it is surprising that this one has only won the one race. Even though he looks nailed on to gain his second win today i do worry about this prolific runners up that they lack heart in a finish. heart or not though this ones class should carry it through.

6 Xavier Breath Lindeman Prairie Hernandez R M

Vastly improved in his last two after running an eight length fourth in an 8 buck claimer this would be the training performance of the year of the trainer got him across the line here. Having said that this IS HRP and this one worked a 136 flat just 6 weeks ago which is certainly the strongest work in this race. So who knows maybe we are in for a treat here.

SUMMARY

I want to go for Xavier Breath just because i have seen worse horses with similar works win races like this . However common sense points us towards Hint Of Sugar.
