Sir Barton Stakes Brings Six Sophomores to WO Sod

6/13/21

  5  WO    Sir Barton Stakes

$150.000    3yo Foaled In ON       1 1/16m Turf         123lbs +penalties

A nice group of ON-bred Sophomores will be headed to the WO turf course on Sunday as well at the field for the Sir Barton, a mile and a sixteen stakes on the lush Toronto lawn.  I took Kings Power as my top choice off of that duo of wins, one at SA and last out over this course.  He’s never been worse than second on the grass so… let’s look for him to keep that going.  I’ll go off-script a bit and take a maiden as my second choice… Trilogy has a single start but looked good on the CD lawn and should improve in his second start and at the longer distance.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Action Man    Diablo Diablo    Bahen S R   123   9/2

Three wins from eight starts but has struggled in his stakes efforts.  Maybe getting after ON-bred will help in that part of it all and he can find his way to another win today.  He likes the turf, so they found the right footing for him… I think you have to give him a serious look.

2
Cherokee Falcon    Chili King Stables    Fukumoto D   123   7/1

Just missed over this track last out facing sAlw types and he closed well to miss by a neck.  He’s a mixed bag of results and has moved around from dirt to turf looking for his best… it’s back to the grass and let’s see what that brings.

3
   Trilogy    Team 7 Illusions    Hernandez R M   123   8/1

He’s a maiden but ran a big race at CD in his debut where he was second (DH) by two while sprinting on the grass.  Steps up in class, distance… but his works say that the footing and distance are right and he could pull an upset vs. these.

4
Attention To Detail    Night Rider Stables    Contreras L   123   10/1

Only an single win but he has five other on-the-board finishes from his nine lifetime starts.  Broke maiden two back and just miss at PIM in his most recent, but his races have been for a tag so this is a step up and he will need his best to be part of this one.

5
Kings Poker    Wood Duck Stables    Stein J   123   5/1

Maybe he has this racehorse thing figured out… won at SA on the grass to break maiden and came right back here to take ON-bred OptAlw horses, but of those at a mile and on the grass.  Two wins and two placings on the grass… he could be the one to beat.

6
   Sinissippi Rubicon    Arindel    Moran D   123   6/1

His last two have come over this track where he was third vs. ON-bred OptAlw horses, so he’s going to need that type of effort again.  Struggled vs. grades takes company, but this is less than that, so maybe he’s around for part.
