The Miss PS – (Grade lll)
Purse $150.00 – For Fillies Three Years Old
6 Furlongs – Dirt
Laurel Park – May 15, 2026
Rising three-year-old fillies will get their chance to be under the spotlight this Friday as the 21st running of The Miss PS features six horses with little stakes experience. This race serves as an important steppingstone for these young fillies, many of whom are only beginning to scratch the surface of their potential. There has been a long list of winners over the years, but no one has been more successful in The Miss PS than D J C Racing Stables, with two wins. With another runner entered this year, he hopes to extend that advantage even further. The stakes record was set in 2015 when Dead Ant Dead Ant sat off the pace as a heavy favorite and crossed the wire in 1:09.09 for the six furlongs. It feels different this year with all the Preakness festivities making a quick appearance at Laurel Park, but this field shapes up to make The Miss PS a wide-open affair. Time to examine the field and see how these six fillies stack up against each other!
- Sod Fairy – (Nakamura Stables, R. Bejarano) Not only does this filly have the most wins in the field, but she also is the only one with graded stakes experience. The daughter of The Sodfather rattled off four wins in a row after debuting on the free track circuit last August. One of those wins was in a state-bred stakes at Woodbine, where she was the heavy favorite and delivered a one-length win. Last time out, this filly was seen at Tampa Bay Downs in a four-horse allowance going seven furlongs. It was a commanding performance, drawing off to win by an easy three lengths. She will easily be my top pick in here, especially already having a stakes win at this sprinting distance.
- Shedaresthedevil – (D J C Racing Stables, J R. Velazquez) A very impressive New York-Bred who seems to be figuring things out at the right time. Shedaresthedevil is coming in this race off back-to-back victories at Aqueduct. She broke her maiden around the one-turn mile, drawing the rail and scoring by a length. The daughter of Great Caviar took a big step forward in the NY Stallion Series – Fourstar and held a two-length advantage from the top of the stretch to the wire. That win produced a 93 SRF figure in just her fourth career start. Even with her confirmation pointing towards longer races, Shedaresthedevil will be a major contender in here.
- Dream Dub – (Mb Stables, P. Lopez) Privately bought for $80.00 and is making a big equipment change. Dream Dub is removing Bute and blinkers and adding Lasix for this start. She made her debut at Churchill Downs as a two-year-old last fall and ended up running last. This Kentucky-bred unfortunately hasn’t run on a fast main track since. Her next start was a huge improvement as she just missed by a head going six furlongs and put up a 90 SRF figure. Dream Dub added blinkers for her third start at Gulfstream Park and finished third around the one-turn mile. Entering this race as the only maiden, there’s no question that Mb Stables is taking a big shot with this filly.
- Calliope – (Panionios Racing, M. Franco) The most experienced runner entered this year with 10 career starts. It’s worth noting that this filly has never run further than 5½ furlongs. She’s only been out of the money twice, and one of those was Calliope’s stakes debut. The daughter of Good Authority always runs her race and has done her best running coming from off the pace. She comes in here off an allowance victory at Turf Paradise against a four-horse field. If there is a pace meltdown, you can be certain that this filly will be picking up pieces late. The stretch out in distance will help Calliope, but she may find this class level a bit steep against proven stakes horses.
- Brienne Pinnacle – (Martyparty, S X. Bridgmohan) Hasn’t done much wrong in her five career starts other than her debut. Brienne Pinnacle ran eighth first time out but answered back strongly with a nice win at Turf Paradise. She had the same setup in her next start, opening up by a length, and this time she got caught at the wire. This Florida-Bred’s last start came in a N2X, where she was the heavy favorite and drew the widest of nine. It was pretty much a perfect trip sitting off the pace and closed nicely on the outside to win going away. This is no doubt a tougher assignment than what she has handled successfully in the past. Other horses look more attractive in this spot.
- Supa Speed – (Robeth, D E. Centeno) With only two races under her belt, this is the most lightly raced filly in the group. In both of those starts, she wore a shadow roll, and connections are going to experiment with this start by removing it. Supa Speed ran an even fourth on debut at Belterra Park after being covered up down on the rail. It wasn’t a bad effort at all, and connections decided to run her at the 4½ furlong distance for her next start. She lived up to her name and showed a lot of early speed from the outside. The daughter of Entrepreneur cleared the field by a length, rounding the turn and holding on at the wire by a neck. The lack of experience is the main concern here.
