Three Year Olds Fillies

Only a small group of six three year old fillies has been entered up for run in this years Stonehedge Sophomore Fillies over the Tampa Bay surface. It is part of a big stakes card. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Anger Issues (4-1-1-0 $31.000), trained by High Voltage

First up and this filly is coming into this race off of some Kentucky Oaks preps which well she was not successful in. She was last in the Alexandra but her only win was sprinting. Her form is not that great so I don’t know how she will run.

2. Take The Bet (2-1-0-0 $1.680), trained by Keikowin Racing

Now to this very lightly raced filly who is coming into this race off of a free track win and a good fourth in a first level allowance race at Fair Grounds. I think she has a lot of room to improve and she could run a big race in here.

3. Threat Unknown (5-3-1-0 $86.400), trained by Mb Stables

What looks like to be one of the toughest ones in the field here of course comes from Mb Stables. This filly ran second in the Any Limit at Gulfstream last out. If she improved off of that she could definitely win this one.

4. Ice Angel (7-1-2-2 $52.110), trained by Fractious

Now to this one who is coming into this race off of a second place finish in a four horse starter allowance at Gulfstream. She is making a big jump up in class here and I don’t know if she will be able to handle it. Maybe she will surprise me though.

5. Skyhigh Haggis (9-1-0-2 $76.880), trained by The Sidley Stud

This next filly is multiple stakes placed against Canadian breds in her career but she has kind of struggled outside of the statebred restriction. She will have a shot with this small field but I wouldn’t be surprised if she won or was off the board.

6. Key To The Era (7-3-2-1 $93.300), trained by D J C Racing Stables

And my top choice right here on the outside as she has won three of her last four and her only loss in that streak was a second place finish in the Letellier Memorial. She has been off for about three months but I think she is ready to rock in here.

Summary

A small field but not a bad field at all here with a couple of pretty good looking fillies. My top choice is Key To The Era on the outside but she is not a lock at all. Good luck to all in the field.
