Small But Good Field in San Clemente Stakes

The San Clemente Stakes – GII
                     DMR Race 8 1 1/16M – Turf
                               Purse $200.000
                         Three Year Olds Fillies

A very small field but the field is not short on talent at all. There is three stakes winners in the bunch with two them being traded stakes winners also. Infrastructure and Snakie Groupie look like the toughest two on first glance but let’s take a look at the field and see how everyone stacks up.

1. Nancy Broom Moytoy (10-2-2-4 $142.320), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Here is a pretty decent Nee York bred filly and she has made over one hundred and forty bucks in her career running in statebred races pretty much every single time. She broke her maiden two back and then ran third in a stake and came back last out to win an optional claimer. If the statebred form translates she has a chance.

2. Moonlight Bliss (5-4-0-0 $69.580), trained by Fractious

Here is a win machine right here as she has only lost her first career start up to this point. She went from a free track horse three back to a stakes winner last out where she beat five other rivals to win a statebred stake at BEL. She’s lightly raced but it looks like she has some talent hidden under there.

3. Infrastructure (8-4-1-1 $243.080), trained by Our Athletes

The big horse in the field right here she won two grades stakes in a row before trying older fillies and mates in a grade one event where she only ended up getting beat two lengths when it was all said and done. She looks like the best horse to me and is my top pick for the race for sure.

4. Mrs Astor (7-4-0-1 $37.310), trained by Crocker Ggs

Probably the horse with the fastest works in here but it really hasn’t shown much of her in races as she has only won races at lower level tracks. She won pretty easy last out at LAD when she had a new running style and came from far back. She looks outclassed to me in here but you don’t know until they run.

5. Snakie Groupie (8-3-2-1 $320.400), trained by Maxmillion Farm

The other graded stakes winner in the field she won that grade three two races back in the Wonder Again. She ran really bad last out in the BEL Oaks where she ran last and never got close at all. I think the shorter distance will definitely help her and I think she will run a whole lot better.

Summary

Well obviously the top two are Infrastructure and Snakie Groupie but I think a horse like Moonlight Bliss could end up running big and cause an upset and maybe even Nancy Broom Moytoy could win also. It’s a pretty good field for how small the field is. Good luck to everyone in the race.
