Small Field of Five for Nassau at WO

6/19/21

  5   WO    Nassau Stakes (GII)

$175.000    4yo&Up  F&M            1m   Turf        122lbs +penalties

A rather small field of five ladies will be headed to the WO turf for the Nassau Stakes (GII), a one mile black-type race that looks to be fairly wide open.  I landed on Unmistakable as the top selection has her class just seems to put me on tilt for her in this race.  She’s won big on this surface, was second in the BC F&M Turf (GI) and just stands out to me.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Certain Vessel    TwinTowersRacing    Ryan S   122   10/1

Only a single on-the-board finish this year after breaking home six checks last year.  She has been facing graded foes quite a bit of the time and has struggled at that level, so it’s a drop looking for a better place to get the job done.  She will need her best today.

2
   Unmistakable    Smokey Stover    Hernandez R M   122   5/2

Got back on the winning side of things last out taking down OptAlw horses over this track.  She’d struggled a big since changing hands for a big big price tag.  Now those were all graded races, so she certainly has class, ability… the whole shabang… and if she runs back to her Taylor (GI) win over this track… well, she’s the class no doubt.

3
Rules Are Madness    Angelos Stable    Contreras L   122   6/1

A mixed bag from this one in ’21, but she’s still looking for her first win despite having three runner up starts and a third from her six ’21 starts.  Her last two starts were runner-up tries, so she’s sharp and you have to think she will be around when they make the run to the wire here.

4
Commanding Jane    Serenity Stables    Moran D   122   3/1

Two wins fro three starts this year including a Cal-bred stakes win at SA in her most recent where she wired the field in fine form.  She has great speed and loves to flex that muscle, so look for her to be out on the front here… if she can control the pace, she will be dangerous.

5
   Investment Return    Badger Stables    Wilson E J   122   8/1

Nabbed out of a high-end claimer of this surface last out, where she was second at big odds.  She’s won six of her twenty starts and has has won at the graded level, so her best makes her tough… but does she still have her best?
