Small Field of Six for The Salvator Mile

The Salvator Mile – GIII
5/25/19
MTH Race 1 1M – Dirt
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds and Up

A field of only six runners is entered up for this years running of the grade three Salvator Mile over this Monmouth Park oval. It is a small field but there is some nice runners in here without a doubt. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the field.

1. Moving Cloud (21-7-2-1 $185.390), trained by RNP Stables

The first runner in the field right here is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in the Runhappy Stakes at Belmont. He is a stakes winner but that was sprinting and he has not ran around two turns in a long time. He is an alright horse but I’m not sure how he will handle the mile.

2. Asset Allocation (12-4-0-3 $74.390), trained by Mb Stables

And this next runner in the field is coming into this spot off of a fourth place finish in a Pennsylvania bred optional claimer. Before that he won a starter allowance race with a nice run. This is a big step up in class for him and I’m not sure how he will handle this competition.

3. Skyscraper (5-2-1-0 $39.220), trained by John Henry

This next horse in the field right here is a three year old facing the older runners. In his last start he ran seventh in the grade three Coolmore Lexington after setting the pace for most of the way. He ran a good race that day and I think if he settles off the pace in here he might have a good chance.

4. Coles Creek (6-4-0-2 $109.190), trained by Axeman

And our next runner in the field is coming into this race off of a stakes win in a Florida bred stakes race at Tampa Bay in which he won by a nose. He ran a very good race in that to go wire to wire and hang on to win by a nose. If he can run that race in this spot he will have a good chance.

5. El Gran Prowler (10-4-2-0 $41.660), trained by Stone Creek Farm

Another three year old in the field right here and this horse is coming into this race off of a finish in the Marathon Stakes which was a mile and a half. He is a stakes runner but has won a five dollar stakes race at the fair level. This is a very big jump in class so I’m not sure how he will handle it.

6. Ferocious Gaze (14-4-3-2 $219.820), trained by Tiratzo

And the final runner in the field right here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in an optional claimer in his last start. He looks like the best runner in this field to me and he is going to be my top pick. He looks like the main threat in here.

Summary

A short field for sure in this race but there is some decent runners that ate in here and it should be a competitive field. My top choice is the outside runner because he just looks like the best runner in this field. Good luck to all in the race.
