Small Field Set for The Woodstock Stakes Sunday in Toronto

The Woodstock

6F on Dirt

Purse $125.00 (plus up to $18.75 for ON-breds) For Three Year Olds.

Woodbine Racetrack Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Mayor Of Win City from Mo Mentum Farm finds a good spot to get back on track here. The three year old colt got too far back in his last start and was unable to make enough impact late while trying 1 1/8th. Moves back to a sprint and that should suite him better. With a small field the pace is going to be suspect and while heats like this often turn into jockey’s races, “City” has enough class to prevail no mater how it goes down. He simply is the best horse in the race. Launch Code from Twin TowersRacing is the interesting upsetter of note. “Code” can sprint and might get a lone F trip. His number earned in his last dry surface win (two starts back) is right there and he also handles an off track, so no worries if rain moves in. Expect a big effort. Main Man from Bears Stable has won back-to-back New Mexico state bred stakes races going two turns, but he has also won twice sprinting. Although small, this field is on another level compared to the usual competition at Sunland Park.

Of The Rest;

Mr Chill from from Spb Racing has won two straight sprints and was only a length back finishing third three starts ago. Gelded late last year, he looks improved and being drawn on the outside of a small field should give him a perfect trip.

Indian from DJC Racing Stables was purchased for $50 and immediately placed in The Florida Derby where he ran seventh. This race is an obvious step down, but the question is the distance, as Indian has not won sprinting. Should be a square price if you believe.
