Pocahontas – Grade III [BC]

1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.

1st       The Magic Box     Smokey Stover      Smith M E

The key for this one was definitely the trip as she had already proved herself over the mile in her maiden win and has plenty of stamina in her bloodlines. As usual the race engine seemed to do its thing as she stalked a slower pace than she made all in her last race and saved enough to see off her rivals down the stretch. This was a solid win and must make her one of the favorites for the BC juvenile Fillies another testament to the developing strength of this trainers breeding program.

2nd         Nostromo       Jive Inc.     Franco M

Another proven over the mile she ran a cracker from a terrible draw keeping on really strongly to take ground off the winner all the way down the stretch. I did like the way she ran today and i think she will be a big threat in the BC after this effort and at only 15.1hh there may be plenty of improvement to come.

3rd        Chopstick          Aer Stables          Pennington F

This may be enough to get her into the BC and it has to be said the way she finished she would have to be a real chance for the stable. Getting back and a little lost early on she picked up when asked and ran on really well at the end. This is her third sticky draw in a row so she wont know herself when she gets a decent draw and she may just be the one that could find improvement when that happens.

4th        Keno Queen      Mb Stables          Cedillo A

Went to the front but didn’t find much under the whip and could only whack away at the one pace. More of a closer in her previous efforts a click and change took place today and i am not sure it suited her but the trainer had little choice from this good draw but to send her forward. A good effort but she may struggle to make the BC now.
