Chandelier Stakes – Grade I [BC] [KYO]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.
1st Snow peak, trained by Mb Stables
On the form book it looked like this unbeaten filly would win this with ease. Add to that the Mb Stables midas touch and this looked like one of the most obvious results of the year. Sure enough she found a nice turn of foot from the back to come wide and mow them down. With so many races here at HRP decided by trip or just plain luck it was nice to see such a clear favourite run as it should and it would take a brave person to not put her near the top of her generation heading into the BC.
2nd All Fueled Up, trained by Yankee Doodle Stable
Was set into a loose stalk and finished very nicely for second. This was a great effort considering her last start was in a maiden claimer and she ran with a lot of merit today. Clearly an improver she looked suited by this trip and if she squeezes into the BC could be a live chance.
3rd Easy Time, trained by Waldo
As expected from her draw and with a running style that suggested front runner she went to the front and very nearly snatched the win. This was a huge run considering her work times were well off most of these but she got away with some soft sectionals and although she may struggle to repeat this run with a different set of circumstances this was great effort.
4th What A Troublemaker, trained by Blushing Meadows
Still a maiden but ran a terrific race to be fourth. You would like to say that she would be a nailed on certainty in a maiden next time but here at HRP the maidens are often just as hard to win as the stakes races so she may be better placed in another black type.
SUMMARY
There wasnt too much depth to this field with everything apart from the winner being unproven above allowance grade. Time will tell how good this for turns out to be but the winner won nicely enough and you cant knock an unbeaten record and two graded stakes wins.
