GII – BEL Sprint Championship

$350.000 Graded Stake 7 Furlongs on Dirt for Three Year Olds & Up

The BEL Sprint Championship saw a full field minus one after Edwin Drood was a late scratch the morning of the race. Despite the scratch of one of the favorites it turned out to be a thrilling race with the whole field finishing within a second of the winner when they crossed the wire.

The gates sprung open and Tokyo Secret with The Force Awakens took to the front early on and were able to clear the rest of the field.

As they hit the far turn Snowmizer and Silver Dancer sat third and fourth applying the pressure to the leaders. The group with them included Norwegian Moon, On Awesome One and Sonar.

Down the stretch both pace setters tired and fell through the field. The first to capitalize was Snowmizer, who took the lead with just over a furlong to go and would not give it up finishing a half length ahead of second place finisher Norwegian Moon, closing quickly to finish a solid third was Mb Stables’ Sonar. Taking home fourth place money was Silver Dancer.

Oh Awesome One, Sea Bird 11, Not Perfect, The Force Awakens, Give Your All, Oversell It and Tokyo Secret rounded out the field.
