DMR Race #9 $200.000

3YO F  122 Lbs 1-Mile (T)

For the 21st time, DMR will host the G2 San Clemente on Saturday.  This year’s renewal has drawn a field of seven, and, interestingly, none of the conditioners (and these are well-known entities) have ever taken home this particular prize.  This doesn’t appear to be the best field this historic race has ever seen, but there’s some talent in the gate for this 1-mile test over the DMR turf course.  Breath Of The Bride has won her last two starts and enters full of confidence after taking The Wild Applause at BEL last out.  She’s the only filly that enters off of a stake win, but Lady Monarch joins her as a last-out winner.  While those two have proven turf form, Niagra Keys was a KYO participant who took the G2 Alexandra during the prep season, and, in her only turf start, broke her maiden here last summer.

Those three may be the most-accomplished runners; however, Class Four ended her juvenile campaign with a black-type score on the GP inner turf and Mundi Moon is MGS-placed after three very strong efforts this spring.  Springs Eternal and Twilight Time complete the field, and while both have defeated winners, they both have questions on this surface at this level.

Here’s the G2 San Clemente field:

#1 Springs Eternal (Aarons Hosses/J. Bravo)

#2 Lady Monarch (Nakamura Stables/J. Valdivia Jr)

#3 Niagra Keys (Alydar Stables/V. Espinoza)

#4 Breath Of The Bride (Smokey Stover/E. Maldonado)

#5 Class Four (Chili King Stables/Ru. Gonzalez)

#6 Twilight Time (Fractious/A. Ayuso)

#7 Mundi Moon (High Voltage/R.A. Vazquez)

Final Analysis: This is an interesting group.  We think there’s a reason Niagra Keys ended-up here, and we’ll lean on her as our top choice.  We’ll call it 3-7-4 in the 21st running of the G2 San Clemente at DMR.  Good luck to all involved in here and all of their races this weekend!
