Sophomore Hopefuls Go At It in Lecomte Stakes at FG

oh, it’s a long long long road, the TC Trail... we head down to The Big Easy to catch a gate full of hopefuls and look at the field for the Lecomte Stakes (GIII), a mile and a sixteenth test for the sophomores.  I think Lucky Brandy has to be the horse to watch today, off of that runner-up effort on BC Day.  The chestnut colt won the SAR Special (GII) back last summer and had a duo of poor races in the Hopeful (GI) and Champagne (GI), but certainly ran a big race to be second in the BC Juv (GI) after setting the pace in that one.  Rock With You has won three of his last four, including a last-out victory in the Pulpit at GP, so he deserves a look, as well.  He was fifth in the Hopeful (GI), so he beat the top selection that afternoon… he has some talent.  Good Knights is lightly raced, this being his fifth start, but he has two wins over the surface, including last out in the Gun Runner, that race always showing useful horses as winners including PRK (GI) winner All Take, and the very useful Sirius Black.  Don’t sleep on this one.  As always, these races lend to the suspense that is the KYD… let’s see who helps to stamp their ticket today.
