Speedster Spinsters in Colors at CD

5/22/21

  7  CD    Colors (GIII)

$125.000   4yo&Up F&M        6f Dirt       122 lbs +penalties

Sprinting matrons will be going to the post on Saturday evening and we look at the field for the Colors (GIII), a six furlong dash for four year old and up fillies and mares. To nobody’s surprise I landed on Mb Stables for the top choice today and took Diamond Dealer.  She just looks the class to me, although she didn’t run her best in the Fritchie (GIII) at LRL.  That was on a wet strip and that’s enough of an excuse for me, especially since she just missed last out vs stakes horses at AQU.

I think you can throw a blanket over a bunch of others, so I’ll key the top choice in the exacta and tri and hope to hit something.

Here’s the Field –

1
Truly Deeply Madly    Jive Inc.    Beschizza A   122   7/1

Run off while facing NM bred stakes horses at today’s distance, winning by six in that race, then bounced facing graded foes at GP.  Came back a bit last out running third in a high-dollar Alw sprint at SA so this could be a spot where her best would put her in the middle of things.

2
Empire World    Maxmillion Farm    Talamo J   122   5/1

She was killers last year winning six of eight including the La Brea (GI) so there is not doubt that she can get the job done with any group.  This year has been a different story, 0-3 with a pair of sevenths and a fourth.  Those were all against tough company so this may be a spot for her to get back on track, especially if she fires her best effort.

3
City Of Soul    John Henry    Gaffalione T   122   6/1

Three wins from her last four starts but the only non-win was a graded stakes effort.  She did win vs graded horses at SA so there’s no reason to think that her best effort would make her a tough nut.  She is quick and consistent and that can be a lethal combo.

4
Charity Jane    Mella Sabella    Van Dyke D   122   7/2

Nabbed out of the Mar Auction for $24.510 and has been a nice horses for the new connections.  Third in the Las Flores (GIII) at SA and then won vs OptAlw horses over that same surface.  She has a late turn of foot so the probably want a quick pace to unfold to set things up.

5
Precise Havoc    Angelos Stable    Saez G   122   8/1

A bit of a step up as this one is usually in OptAlw races and always in line for a check.  She tired to be fourth last out which is out of line for this one.  Let’s see if she can turn it around vs. a tougher bunch.

6
   Diamond Dealer    Mb Stables    Bridgmohan S X   122   5/2

Tough filly from the big barn and she looked good just missing last out in the Distaff Hcp (GIII) at AQU.  She’s won six of fifteen starts lifetime and this looks like another spot for her to flex her muscles.  She looks the part to me.

7
Cp She Zero Good    RNP Stables    Court J K   122   9/1

Tagged for $25.000 when second at AQU in a state-bred claimer, came back to miss by a whisker when facing top end Alw types at CD in her first start for the new connections.  They must like what they see because they go right after graded foes.  She looks up to the task.

8
Rising Storm    Angelos Stable    Bejarano R   122   7/1

Back to back wins from this one beating Alw horses at TUP then Str types at PRX (DH) and she got both of those in pretty quick time.  They step her up in class and she’s another with a late turn of foot and will probably want to see a quick pace and/or a speed dual in order to have something to run at.
