WO Race #1 $400.000

3YOs Bred in Canada 123 Lbs 11/2 Turf

Course Record-2:23.21 (Snippets-2009)

Stakes Record-2:25.01 (Max Million-2017)

1st: Speightstown (Nakamura Stables/L.J. Luzzi): Hustled away from rail draw to secure the early lead.  Was allowed to lope along on the front end without much pressure through the first half of the race.  Repelled challenger at the top of the lane and set sail for home.  Continued strongly through the wire and never looked to be anything other than a deserving winner.

2nd: State General (Mb Stables/D. Van Dyke): Broke a step slow, but soon found the rail while racing just a length behind tracking flight.  Was still on the rail while three-lengths back going down the backside.  Moved off of the rail entering the turn and began accelerating nicely.  Rallied down the lane but could only garner the place.

3rd: Black Card (Wood Duck Stables/D. Moran): Raced in the two path while tracking the solo leader.  Maintained his course through the backstretch while inching closer as they neared the turn.  Got within a length of the winner at the top of the lane and continued on evenly to just lose the place.

4th: #4 Deactivation (Mb Stables/Ru. Silvera): Got to the rail and tracked the solo leader.  Held his position to the lane, but came up flat in the latter stages.

The winner improves to 11-4-1-2 and has earned $601.400.  Congratulations to Speightstown and Nakamura Stables on their Breeders Stakes victory!
