Springboard Mile is Loaded

Well, it took a bit of finagling to get to Oklahoma City, but here we are, none the less and we look at the loaded field for the 2019 RP Springboard Mile, with TC aspirations on the minds of all of these.  Let’s get right to the RP Springboard Mile and I’m going with what should be the chalk today… Brittle has been tough as nails since he was gelded, and I see no reason to get away from him here.  He’s gritty and knows when to have his nose in front – what more can you want?  Sweet Seat was third in BC Juv (GI) and should make the top pick work for the victory.

Here’s the Field –

1
Silent Commander  Serenity Stables  Contreras L 120 8/1

Has made every start a wining one, going three-for-three in his career and jumps up to face stakes company for the first time.  He’s won on the lead, won from off of the pace, just seems to do everything right.  Will the step up in class be is undoing or is this one ready for bright lights and big cities?

 Better
Party
 Estero
Farms
 Court
J K
120 12/1

His BC Day trip was not what they wanted, finishing last of fourteen that afternoon and faces similar here.  He will need to make a drastic improvement in order to be any part of this one.  I think they would be happy with any check.

3
Sweet Sweat  Mb Stables  Talamo J 120 2/1

Third in the BC Juv (GI) and was closing ground late in that one.  Has a pair of stakes wins including the Breeders Futurity (GI) at KEE, so there’s no doubt he has class and ability.  Any entry from the big barn is a threat, but his one is a big threat.

4
 Guy Lafleur  John Henry  Centeno D E 120 5/1

Hung around to be third in the Hope Stakes (GIII) at DMR in his most recent, and that was another improvement since being purchased for $175.000 back in Sept.  I’m sure the barn would like to see that continue and get a piece of this one.

5
 Useless Debate  Gdp Inc  Wilson E J 120 15/1

Claimed out of his last start and was then sold for 3x that in a private transaction so the barn certainly sees something they like.  He’s never been off of the board, shows three wins from five starts, but this is certainly an acid bath and he will be facing much stiffer in this one.

6
 Strong Kommand  Maxmillion Farm  Gryder
A T
120 20/1

Sharp outfit but this entry has me scratching my head.  Still a maiden, never won a dime and has been up the track in each of his three starts.  His morning works are to be looked at, but I’m not sure why they would go here.

7
 El Gran Commander  Threshold  Eramia R E 120 10/1

Won his debut at GG like a good horse should, pulling away late to win by
three in a sharp time.  They swing for the fences here and I really
wouldn’t be surprised by any type of a finish.  You may want to
include him on your mutuals.

8
 Rules Of War  D J C Racing Stables  Gallardo A A 120 12/1

Snagged from a $20.000 claimer in his most recent, where he was second by a nose, and the new barn puts him right into graded company.  Broke maiden for a tag and his best efforts seem to have come on the lawn.

9
 Brittle  Aer
Stables
 Fuentes
Ru
120 3/5

Has been an absolute monster since the vet stopped by for the unkindest of cuts back in May.  Since then it’s nothing but wins, three stakes scores, all graded, including the BC Juv (GI) where he solidified his abilities.  Must be considered the one to get past.

10
 Bannister  John Henry  Lanerie C J 120 12/1

Has changed hands twice since breaking maiden in his debut at PRX back in Apr.  It’s been a bit of a struggle since then and will need to make a major improvement to be part of this one.
